Pier Construction Across Indiana

Shore Protect Construction designs and builds piers for waterfront owners across Indiana — from the open Lake Michigan coast in the northwest to the spring-fed glacial lakes, the central utility and federal reservoirs, and the St. Joseph and Ohio river valleys. We set timber, composite, aluminum, and steel pilings, frame durable decks, and renew failing structures so your access to the water stays solid season after season.

Every Indiana pier we build is engineered for hard Midwest winters. Pile embedment is carried below the frost and scour zone, caps and deck connections are detailed to ride out freeze-thaw movement, and the framing is sized to resist the ice uplift that jacks an under-built piling out of the lakebed a little more each year. Whether you want a new pier, a full rebuild, or targeted repair — pile replacement, cap renewal, decking, or storm damage — our crews mobilize statewide on lakes, reservoirs, and rivers alike.

Pier Builders for Every Indiana Waterway

Each Indiana waterway loads a pier differently, and we build to match. Lake Michigan piers face open-fetch storm waves, bluff-toe scour, and the record high water that reshaped the coast in 2019–2020. The northern glacial lakes and central reservoirs combine recreational boat-wake fatigue with hard winter ice and, on the reservoirs, seasonal pool drawdown that leaves pilings standing in dry lakebed. The St. Joseph and Ohio rivers add sustained current and barge wake. We size pile diameter, embedment depth, decking, and cap detailing to each site's hydraulics and shoreline class — and choose ice-resistant materials that hold the line through the November-to-March freeze.
